Engagement Opportunities

GE Johnson Department of Architectural Engineering and Construction Science students are highly sought after for their technical expertise and hands-on experiences. Our students are not only well-prepared academically for the challenges of their future careers, but they also receive top-tier career preparation tailored to the building industry.

For students, securing that first job is a process that begins with building connections with potential employers. We encourage employers to start by establishing connections with our students through student organizations, volunteering in the department, and through our internship or full-time recruitment process.

Internship and full-time recruitment

Each year the department hosts fall and spring recruiting opportunities. If you are interested in participating in an on-campus recruiting visit or other recruitment opportunities, contact our recruitment liaisons, Katie Loughmiller (construction science and management) or Ray Yunk (architectural engineering).

Recruiting visits

Advertising

Each company will be advertised for 2-3 weeks before their recruiting visit on digital screens within the department.
Guidelines for Job Board (coming soon).

Evening company presentation

60-minute presentation scheduled in the ARE/CNS department.
4:30, 5:30 and 6:30 presentation times available.
Opportunity for companies to share about themselves and interact with students.
Open to all ARE/CNS students to attend.

Interviews

Scheduled for the day following the company presentation.
Located in the ARE/CNS department.
Interview sign-ups are posted on the ARE/CNS Job Board 2-3 weeks before your recruiting visit.
Resumes for all interested students provided on the first week of each academic semester.

Cost

$1000 pledge to the Faculty Retention and Recruitment Fund (one presentation, one interview room).
$250 for each additional interview or presentation room.

Develop connections

Technical presentations

Connect with our student organizations and faculty to schedule a technical presentation.

Student organization sponsorship

Opportunity to sponsor student organization events, project tours, and conference trips.

Volunteer

Service to our students and faculty can take on many roles, including judging student projects, mentoring competition teams, and serving on the ARE and CNS Advisory Councils.
