Graduate Program
Master of Science in Architectural Engineering
The department offers a master's degree in architectural engineering that requires a minimum of 30 credit hours of graduate-level course/research work. The objective of the program is to provide advanced studies in engineering, analysis and design of building systems.
An accelerated bachelor's and master's degree program is also available for undergradautes in architectural engineering.
Research areas
The research interests of the department’s graduate faculty cover the following major areas of modern building systems design:
- lighting/electrical
- heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC)
- indoor air quality
- plumbing
- energy analysis, energy auditing and acceptance testing
- structural systems analysis and design including structural steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, timber and cold-formed steel
- seismic design
The graduate faculty direct research and utilize the research in the enhancement of both graduate and undergraduate teaching. The department has excellent facilities, which include newly renovated design studios, classrooms, faculty offices, an outstanding electrical and lighting laboratory for research and teaching, and access to current computer technology.
The department does not currently offer funded research, fellowship, or scholarship packages for incoming graduate students.
